Who is a typical patient?

While Dr. Martin spent years as a general orthopedic doctor, he now specializes in total joint replacement of the knee and hip. Our helpful front office staff can refer you to excellent general orthopedists in Tucson if you're experiencing less severe knee or hip symptoms, or issues with another joint. A typical patient of Dr. Martin's has been informed by their primary care physician or another orthopedic doctor that they are in need of a total joint replacement of the knee or hip, and intend to undergo the procedure with Dr. Martin. If you've been told by another physician that you are in need of a total joint replacement of the knee or hip and wish to do so within our practice, please call our front desk staff at (520) 742-9900.

What do I need to see Dr. Martin?

When you call the front desk staff, we will ask you a series of questions in order to help Dr. Martin determine if you're a candidate for surgery within our practice. Dr. Martin will approve you as a potential new patient based on your symptoms, insurance, and medical history. A new patient appointment is typically scheduled within two to four weeks. Our office staff will send you to another facility for films (x-ray or MRI) of the joint(s) of concern. After your first appointment, surgery is scheduled at Northwest Medical Center's Center for Joint Replacement within six to eight weeks. Dr. Martin is contracted only with Northwest Medical Center, and cannot perform surgery at other hospitals.
